Augmented
Gallery

When the Covid pandemic hit, the large London art galleries had to close their doors. Together with Playlines and Premier we took the art to the streets. Using AR, anybody could view classic and new artworks from The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery, Royal Academy and Sky Arts. While viewing, the public could access a bespoke audio guide from curators at the various galleries or enjoy a more alternative take courtesy of comedian, James Acaster.

FRODE was responsible for design, art-direction and UX design for the app, as well as creating the AR markers the public had to scan to reveal the paintings and enjoy the commentary.

The project smashed all footfall, engagement and commercial KPIs becoming a key pillar in the capital’s post-covid tourism recovery strategy.

What People Are Saying

We've been lucky to work with FRODE on a huge variety of projects and aesthetics and will definitely do so again. Frode is an outstanding professional and we've been able to count on him on time-critical, high-profile projects for some of the UK's largest cultural institutions. He's also a thoroughly nice bloke. 100% recommended.
